Will and Kate. Two amazing people. Two beautiful creatives. Two fabulous parents. Two dear friends to many. Two deeply love individuals.
In 2017, Will and Kate got married. Just the two of them and their close family.
In 2018, Will and Kate got married…. again (on the crazy windiest day of the year, thanks to Storm Callum!) and we had the absolute please of capturing their day. This time their wedding was a celebration with family and friends. Both weddings were held at the amazing Fforest. Fforest holds a very special place in these guys hearts. Its where Will worked as a chef and where Kate and Will both developed deep and precious friendships. There is a very tangible presence of deep respect, love and appreciation for these guys from all at Fforest and equally a deep respect, love and appreciation for those that work at Fforest. All those that work there (Fforest elves) are family. Its a beautiful things to witness and we feel so lucky to have had the pleasure of working at Fforest and staying there too. Honestly, this place is a gem!
When Will and Kate decided to celebrate their marriage with family and friends, as they were already married, they went for a low key ceremony with Kate’s sister and brother in law conducting the proceedings. This made it even more special having family members to “marry them”. Sophie also created all of the beautiful floral displays and bouquets for the wedding. Kate’s father had sadly passed away in 2017, so as a special way of including him in their day these guys chose to have foliage from his woodland decorating the venue. It was perfect and a very special tribute to a wonderful man. The wedding was full of musical interludes from family members and the Cor Rugby Aberteifi performed a number of welsh traditional songs. It certainly brought out all the welsh passion and it was perfect!
Its fair to say Will and Kare ooze style and ease. Their outfits certainly did the same. Kate wore the same Charlie Brear dress she wore to their first wedding, but this time there was a perfect baby bump filling the dress. (A big thanks to Sally at White Bride for help with dressing Kate. We know how amazing you were) Kate added a lovely french jumper in the evening and also changed into a super cool linen jumpsuit made by a local designer. (All details about Kate’s outfit are in a very lovely synopsis these guys wrote for us at the end of the photos!). Will wore an amazing woollen three piece suit and their son had matching shorts and waistcoat too. (see info at end of post!).
We knew we would have an amazing day with these guys and their family and friends and we really did. To us it was a celebration of love, life and community. Every moment of their wedding just portrayed Will and Kate and the bonds they have with family and friends. It celebrated the newness of their “marriage”, the love for those who sadly are no longer with them, their little family (congratulations on being a family of four now!) and their wider family.
Will and Kate, thank you so much for choosing us to capture your day. We knew we would love your day and we did. It was so special for us to see you guys get married and to share with your family and friends in such a beautiful venue. We loved every thought you put into making your day so beautiful and personal. We smiled a lot that day! x
{ Please do have a read of the wonderful write up from these guys at the end of the photos. Its full of goodness which again adds to the personal and beauty of this wedding and sets it apart as the day Will and Kate got married! }
Thank you Will and Kate for telling us a little more about your day… x
How did you meet, how did you become engaged and for how long had you been engaged before your wedding day? What happened along the way? How did you get here?: We met when we were studying art foundation when we are 18 years old, we were friends and stayed friends for years, After living away for year I moved back to Pembrokeshire and Will and I had always stayed in contact and good friends, anyway our relationship went from friends to be being together. He never asked me to marry him officially we just decided to get married after having our son Bertie, so we rang the council office got the next available date and 'eloped' told our nearest family a few days before and invited them to a small ceremony and dinner. That was the wedding in Will eyes but I had different ideas so a year later we held a blessing and party at Fforest farm to celebrate our marriage so far and family.
What made you choose your venue(s) and location(s)?: Fforest farm, the pub Y Bwythyn is where we had our elopement in September 2017, so it felt only natural to have the party there, Sian and James and Jackson are friends of ours and their space is really special to us, it feels like home from home the perfect wedding venue and vibe we wanted.
Your outfits & accessories - What made you choose your outfits? What did you love about them?: My dress was the original Charlie Brear dress Sally from White bride got made for me in under 3 weeks! I wore for the elopement, Sally helped me accessories it fit the growing bump, and for dancing I wore a jumpsuit made for me and bump by the lovely Amy of Bug Clothing.
Will bought fabric from Cambrian Wool, he wanted a welsh suit made in Wales with welsh wool, He had the suit made by a tailer in Hawarden called David from The Village Tailor. Berts suit was made to match Will.
What made you choose your decor and styling? Tell me about your flowers/florist (bouquets, centre pieces & general decorative arrangements)?: flowers were made by my sister Sophie Snow, we just wanted to keep the natural setting of Fforest, I wanted colour and lots of daliahs as they are my favourite, really i just left it to Sophie. the most important part for me was the foliage, My dad grew a wood and sadly passed away a year and half ago, we decorated the beams, place names and frames from foliage will and I gathered from his wood a few days before the wedding, it was a really special moment for us leading up to the wedding.
Tell me about your Ceremony including any readings, any special moments and your vows. Did you tailor your vows?: Sophie and Joe wrote our ceremony, we wanted it short and sweet not too mushy, will didn't want to talk but I felt we should say something. it was lovely and not to emotional, I had a reading by my best friend Kate.
Do you have any comments about your photography? What was it like working with o&c? Why did you decide to book us?: they are just the most wonderful people, love their style they fit in so well with all family and friends and we loved their pics from my sisters wedding a few years before.
one of my favourite parts of the day was having our photos with you guys in the quarry. It really felt like we were spending the day with friends and having Charis with us in the pre wedding stage, she was my honorary bridesmaid xxx
What was your first dance song and why?:
Did you have any entertainment (day & evening)?: madness! my two friends have a novelty DJ set called the Futuresexuals and they performed to get everyone dancing it was bonkers and amazing,
We had Sweet Vanilla a local DJ to play late in to the night everyone loved it
During the day we had my uncle and cousin Ffin and Matt play my dads guitar and some beautiful acoustic songs and the Cor Rugby Aberteifi who were just great. it was so lovely for our English families to hear and see a welsh choir perform. great atmosphere!
What was your favourite part of the day and why?: We got married in the middle of storm Callum, all day roads were being shut, rivers were flooding trees being blown down and i was just thinking oh no shall we call it a day and go home, really nervous and not expecting anything or anyone the moment Will and I and Bert walked in to tipi it was full of everyone i just couldn't believe it, i felt so proud that everyone came and was just so overwhelmed. I loved the getting ready in the dome, we chose not to have bridesmaid and groomsmen, Will, Bert and I just got ready together we had the hour of calm and family time it was lovey and untraditional - we are untraditional.
If you could impart any words of wisdom to a couple planning their marriage and wedding day, what would they be and is there anything you would do differently?: Just do what you want to do, We didn't want a traditional wedding, we wanted to be married, with the year we had had before we weren't ready for a huge party and a wedding so we changed things, had a year in between each part and did what we wanted. It felt really special to us and full of love not the stuff you feel you must have at a wedding.
